Terry Pawson Architects were asked to develop a designs for a house on the site of a small garage located at the end of a suburban terrace. The un-built project is an exploration of small scale sub-urban living and tested theories of how to build a small family house within the regular terraced grain of a typical south London suburb.

The proposal has a single room on each floor that is the landing for a stair that wraps up through the section. Each floor has a single large window that rotates orientation on every  level to create an impression of scale and space that belies the small size of the building.
